A Derry bear was reunited with its primary school after a journey of a lifetime.
Drumahoe Primary School’s Barnaby Bear went on holiday to Paris with former students Chloe and Judith MacCombe as they competed in the Paralympics.
The twins represented Ireland in triathlon at the competition in the summer, with Chloe finishing sixth and Judith in eighth.
Drumahoe Primary School is where the twins started their education, and they spent the day with the children talking about their experience at the Paralympics.
In a post on Facebook, Drumahoe Primary School were pleased to welcome home their bear and former pupils.
It said: “We welcomed our past pupils and International Paralympic Superstars, the Tandem Twins, into school today. They showed us a slideshow of the things Barnaby and the girls got up to during their Paris Paralympic adventure.
“Then they went around the school getting photos, answering questions and signing autographs for the boys and girls.
“Thank you Judith and Chloe for taking the time out of your busy schedule to visit us. Good luck when you return to France next week to race again.”
Meanwhile the twins wrote on their Instagram account, tandem twins, that they had brought Barnaby Bear back after his adventure with them over the summer.
It said: “Some of you may have noticed that on our recent travels we had a friend with us- Barnaby bear!
“It was an honour on Friday to return to Drumahoe P.S to take him home.
“We got to tell the kids all about his adventures (and how he was often the centre of attention in Paris!) before going round each class and answering questions!
“Still hasn’t hit us how huge the Paralympics is - being asked to sign autographs was WILD!
“We’ll miss Barnaby; but he’s had enough big adventures for a while- think he deserves a well earned relax with P2!!”
