Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Councillor Ciarán McQuillan and Deputy Mayor Tanya Stirling.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens has condemned the recent riots in Belfast.
Numerous arrests have been made following ongoing race-related disturbances in Belfast.
Councillor Ciarán McQuillan slammed the actions of the rioters at last Tuesday’s Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council meeting.
He said: “I believe it to be an urgent matter to call out what has happened in Belfast over the past few days. All of us have constituents of a diverse background, and all of us have residents who have come from a different ethnic community than ourselves.
“As elected leaders, we must call out racism and hatred. There is no place for racism, hatred, discrimination, or intimidation anywhere in society. Therefore, it is important that this council work with all councils, government departments, the executive, and the police to oppose racism and deliver a shared, peaceful, and inclusive society.”
Anti-racism rallies have been taking place across the UK and one being held in Derry on Wednesday.
People from across the north-west attended the solidarity rally.
