Sperrin Bikers Riding Club (RC) are having their first Charity Motorcycle Run on Sunday August 6 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care.

Macmillan Cancer Care helps everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, by providing physical, financial and emotional support.

The charity run, postponed from its initial date of July 23 due to bad weather, will begin at 11am from J3 Belts and Bearings, Sperrin View Business Park, Maghera.

The route will then travel through Kilrea, Ballymoney, Dark Hedges, Ballintoy, Bushmills and back to Kelly’s Portrush where refreshments will be served.

The group has already doubled their initial fundraising target of £1,000 and hope to raise even more vital funds over the coming weeks.

Sperrin Bikers RC began one year ago as a small group of motorcycle enthusiasts, including Oro Donnolly and his son Callum, attended the "Air Ambulance Ride of Thanks" one Sunday last July.

Last year, alongside a few other bikers, Oro and Callum began organising ride outs.

This year the group decided to host their own charity run, unfortunately without Oro's son Callum who now resides in Australia. However, Callum is also hosting his own charity run Down Under.

Oro explained: "We have grown now to almost 30 riders and have gained countless other new motorcycle friends in that year.

"So, we thought it was time to give a little back and help a great charity which has touched our own families and friends.

"We want to give back as this charity is very close to home for us all."

Oro and the Sperrin Bikers are encouraging any motorcyclists from near or far to join them on their charity run or for the public to simply go down and wave them off.

The group are asking for a £10 Voluntary Donation per bike and a £5 Voluntary Donation per Pillion.
