A toilet expert will be in Derry this week to talk about the possibility of improving access to public lavatories in the city.
For years, local people and tourists have complained about the lack of public toilets in Derry’s city centre.
Some bars and restaurants have banned non-customers from using their toilets because of the number of people asking for permission to use their facilities.
Derry City Council has come under pressure to address the problem.
The council has now invited a toilet expert to address them on how much they would have to spend to improve facilities for those who need to spend a penny.
Raymond Martin from the British Toilet Association (BTA) will speak at a meeting of the council’s Environment Services committee later this week.
Mr Martin will give a presentation on consultancy/advisory services offered by the BTA regarding provision of public toilets.
