A Dungiven man has been selected as one of ten finalists in Ireland’s version of popular television programme Master Chef.

Hugh Mullan has always been a fan of the show but this year he decided to swap the sofa for the heat of the kitchen.

The 42 year-old, who lives in Cork with his wife and two children, works as a user experience design consultant, helping to develop solutions to make technology more user-friendly.

Hugh spoke with DerryNow.com: “I really enjoyed taking part in the show. I have always been a massive fan so this year I decided to give it a go.

“It was an online application and I applied on the very last day. There were two sets of auditions. For the first one, I had to bring along a dish that I had already prepared and I just served it up."

See tomorrow's County Derry Post for a full interview with Hugh, one of just 10 national finalists.
