Derry Centra store crowned 'Food-to-go Retailer of the Year' at Retail Industry Awards

Centra Strand Road in Derry, owned by the Moran family, has been recognised as among the best in the UK, when it was awarded the Food-to-Go Retailer of the Year (over 3,001 sq ft group) title this week, at the 2025 Retail Industry Awards in London.

With over 30% of the store dedicated to food-to-go, judges praised the store for its standout branding, engaging in-store theatre, five-star hygiene standards and ultra-low wastage – cementing its reputation as a go-to destination in the region for students, commuters and families alike.

Leading convenience brand Centra NI was also successful when it beat off the competition to secure the coveted Symbol/Franchise Group of the Year award – praised for its investment in value for shoppers and in local food following the £14m launch of the Good Food Locally Sourced range last year. It was also commended for its commitment to sustainability and inclusive employment through its partnership with the NOW Group.

Widely regarded as ‘The Oscars’ of the grocery sector, the Retail Industry Awards reward excellence and outstanding achievement across a broad range of categories, recognising independent retailers alongside the large supermarket groups.
