The manager of a Limavady community group says she is 'disappointed' after two of their vehicles were damaged in an arson attack.
Vandals targeted a bus and lorry belonging to Limavady Community Development initiative (LCDI) at around 9.30pm on Wednesday night.
Both vehicles, which were parked outside the organisation's community building at Benevenagh Drive in the town and are used daily, were badly damaged in the attack.
Police confirmed that they are treating the incident as arson.
Joanne Kinnear, General Manager at LCDI, expressed her disappointment at the attack which is believed to be one of a number on the organisation since the beginning of July.
She said: "As a not for profit Community Organisation we were very disheartened when we got the call on Wednesday night that our some of our vehicles had been set on fire.
"Each of the vehicles we have are used daily to provide community led and managed services whilst also providing permanent full time employment for local people in Limavady, So for all of this to be potentially jeopardised and the limited resources of the emergency services to be taken up because of reckless, senseless criminal behaviour is very disappointing."
Ms Kinnear said LCDI will continue to provide a service to the local community.
"Despite this set back the Management Board of LCDI remain committed to providing local sustainable employment and community focused services in Limavady and trust that the police with the support of the local community can put a stop to what has been a series of criminal attacks on the organisation since early July."
The PSNI appealed for information on the incident.
Inspector Yvonne McManus said: “Significant damage was caused to the bus, which is used as a community vehicle, and the incident is being treated as arson.
“Police in Limavady would urge anyone with information about the incident to contact them by calling 101, quoting reference 1514 23/08/17.
“Alternatively, information can also be given anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.”
