A woman was convicted at Derry Crown Court today for claiming £29,878 in benefits she was not entitled to.
Anne Burke (60) of Glengalliagh Park, Derry claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance and Housing Benefit while failing to declare employment. She was sentenced to eight months imprisonment suspended for two years. The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
Mrs Burke is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
