Sectarian graffiti daubed on equipment at children's play park in the Waterside area of Derry

A DUP coucillor has hit out at those responsible for daubing sectarian graffiti daubed on equipment at children's play park in Waterside area of Derry. The slogans were painted on equipment at the play park in the Irish Street area overnight, and was discovered by parents arriving at the facility this morning. Commenting, the DUP councillor David Ramsey said that it was a 'deliberate attempt to heighten tensions' in the area. "It can be seen as nothing else when someone comes in and does this in a play park in what its a mainly unionist area," he said. "A number of angry parents contacted our office about it this morning and council is to now remove the graffiti." He added: "We have good community relations with the Top of the Hill area and I would ask those responsible for this to take a long, hard look at themselves."
