DERRY'S Ulster hurling shield final against Tyrone will now take place in Carrickmore on Sunday at 1.00pm.  The game was originally fixed for Armagh but the Ulster Council met on Tuesday night to finalise a new venue.

Derry and Tyrone had convincing wins over Monaghan and Fermanagh respectively in their semi-finals.  The winners of Sunday's clash will be promoted to the Ulster senior championship for 2018.

Derry manager Collie McGurk, in his first season in  charge, has successfully convinced all of the county's top hurlers to commit to the Oak leaf jersey.

Seven of Slaughtneil's squad played in the semi-final win over Monaghan.  Liam Óg Hinphey and Paul Cleary are back in the fold this season.  County footballers Brendan Rogers and Chrissy McKaigue are set to join the panel for the Nicky Rackard Cup, which begins against Louth on Saturday, April 22.

Also this weekend, Derry minor footballers face Monaghan in the semi-final of the Ulster league on Saturday.  The game was originally fixed for Owenbeg, but has been switched to Celtic Park (12noon).

Derry, once again under the leadership of Damian McErlain, finished as group winners, with wins over Fermanagh, Donegal, Antrim and a draw with Tyrone.  Cavan play Tyrone in the other semi-final.

Derry's senior camogie team are in league semi-final action, with Ciaran Cunningham's side down to face Kildare on Sunday (2pm) at Inniskeen.  The winners will play Cork or Carlow in the final.
