Holders Tyrone cruised to a sixth successive Dr. McKenna Cup Final win as they overcame Derry by 2-13 to 1-7 at Pairc Esler In Newry.

Derry got the opening point of the game through Emmet McGuckin but Tyrone gradually took control and Colm Cavanagh scored a goal to put them 1-2 to 0-2 ahead.

By half time Mickey Harte's side led 1-7 to 0-2.

Derry continued to hold the upper hand in the second half and a second goal, from Peter Harte, put them 12 points clear, 2-12 to 0-6 with 13 minutes to go.

Niall Loughlin bagged a late goal for Damian Barton's side but it proved to be only a consolation score.

Mattie Donnelly was named as the man of the match.
