DAMIAN McErlain's Derry are facing an unwanted winter fixture back-log - after just one game.

Their Dr. McKenna Cup game against Armagh at the Athletics Grounds was called off due to pitch that was deemed unplayable after freezing conditions overnight.

The game was called off at relatively short notice following a pitch inspection.

Several hundred fans had already travelled and were inconvenienced.

But this postponement poses a problem for the administrators and Derry.

The National Football League programme is due to begin at the end of the month with Derry in action on Sunday, January 28th.

The Dr. McKenna Cup will have to be concluded beforehand.

The Monaghan-Donegal game was also postponed as was the game between Down and UUJ.

The rescheduled games will be announced following a meeting of the Ulster CCC.
