A 20-year-old man has been charged with robbery and possessing a firearm following an incident in which a man was struck in the face with a gun in Derry.
The incident occurred at around 12.15am yesterday when three men forced their way into a flat at Northland Road and assaulted a man and a woman.
A firearm and a knife were used and the male victim was struck on the face with the gun.
The attackers demanded money from one of the victims before making their escape with two mobile phones in a holdall containing Christmas presents.
A man was arrested in connection with the incident.
He has also been charged with false imprisonment, possessing a blade and common assault and is due to appear at Derry Magistrates Court tomorrow.
