Whether it be temporary or permanent hair removal you should really explore what there is on offer before making your decision. |

Shaving is the most common type of hair removal probably because it is the most convenient way of removing hair as we can do it ourselves. The reason that a clean shave will only last you a day or two maximum is because you are only removing the hair from the surface of the hair and this is not effecting the root of the hair which in return does not disturb the hair cycle in the dermis layer of the skin. When shaving, common complaints include skin rash, cuts, irritation and abrasions. These can be minimized by using a fresh blade and ensuring the skin is well lubricated. |

Laser Unless you have been living under a rock you will have noticed that laser hair removal has taken the beauty industry by storm. There are so many special offers going around at the moment it can be a little overwhelming if you have never spoken to anyone who has had it done. Laser hair removal is highly concentrated pulse light that is aimed into the hair follicles, causing the pigment in the follicles to absorbed the light and that in turn gradually destroys the hair. Hair grows in several phases, known as ATC (anagen, telogen, catagen) and the laser can only affect the currently active growing stage so this is why a number of sessions are needed to kill the hair in all the stages. Using highly concentrated pulse light into the hair follicles causes the pigment in the follicles to absorb the light. Laser does not suit all hair types, it is tailored for darker more coarse hair as blonde hair does not have enough pigment to attract the laser's heat. This leaves laser removal unreliable on blonde or grey hair. It is so important to book a consultation , this is where the therapist should examine your hair to see if you would be suitable, this is where they will talk you through the treatment and also do a patch test to ensure your skin reacts perfectly to the laser. |

Sugaring again originates from an ancient Middle Eastern practice. Sugaring is an all natural paste or gel made from food ingredients including sugar, water and lemon juice. While there are many different recipes, only natural ingredients are used. This method is very similar to waxing as it removes hair from the root when done properly. It may take a couple of tries to master the art of sugaring but once you get the hang of it, it really is quite simple. Applying to any area, stretch the paste by pulling it against the direction the hair grows in. Leave for a few seconds to sink into the pores, working in small sections. Flick the side of the paste and peel off in the direction of the hair growth. |
