ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?
IT’S TIME to sack Brendan Rodgers.
Yep, that’s it, it’s all over.
It’s time to move on and get someone in who knows what he is doing.
The fickleness of football fans was summed up in one half hour of Saturday evening radio as I travelled back from Drumahoe, having just watched Glentoran snatch a late equalizer to deny Institute a famous win.
‘Stute, back in the big time following years in the Premiership, have held their own so far, but they have had their disappointments also. Saturday was another, but when everyone involved with the Drumahoe club looked at the bigger picture, with most of the teams below them losing, then it proved to be a good point.
The bigger picture.
Do these Liverpool fans calling for Brendan Rodgers’ head know what one looks like?
146 days ago, Rodgers was untouchable. He was the man about to lead the club back to the promised land of ‘champions’. As he led his team out against Chelsea on that fateful April day at Anfield, the Liverpool fans were chanting ‘We’re gonna win the league’. And they should have. But they didn’t.
Now here we are, less than ten league games later and they want him gone.
Excuse me a second…..
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Are they for real? If you’re a Liverpool fan, and you want rid of Rodgers, then you seriously need to catch yourself on. No one likes to admit their own flaws, but if you find yourself looking at potential replacements for Rodgers then you don’t deserve to watch football, let alone have an opinion on it.
Do you remember what it was like before Rodgers? You had Roy Hodgson leading your club nowhere, and then you had King Kenny spending all the Fernando Torres money on donkeys. Neither man got you anywhere.
But here you have a young, intelligent and progressive manager, and within two years, not only has he got Liverpool back into the Champions League, he has come within a hair’s breadth of winning the first league title since 1990. He has also turned Liverpool into such an attacking force that teams were blown away in the first 15 minutes of matches consistently last season. Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling and Coutinho were setting the world to rights and you couldn’t help but be impressed by the swagger they possessed going forward. They had zero fear. It was powerful stuff.
Who would have thought that a few defeats would have taken the club so far backwards?
Now we have fans fearing that Liverpool won’t make the top four this season, we have fans calling for Gerard to be dropped and we have others claiming that Roberto Mancini should be brought in to save Liverpool’s season.
But the best of them all is this: a group of fans are planning a demonstration at Anfield ahead of tomorrow’s League Cup game against Middlesbrough. They want Rodgers out and they want him out now.
Here’s a few pearls from #RodgersOut:
-When Mourinho was Rodgers age (41) he'd already won two league titles, the UEFA Cup and the Champions League. Brendan has won the play-offs.
-Suarez made Rodgers look better then he was. Now he is being shown up for being the chancer that he always was.
-If it weren't for Suarez, Cardiff and Fulham would be on the phone to Rodgers’ agent right now.
As a Manchester United fan, I can’t help but laugh at Liverpool losing, as is my right, but has it really come to this? These same fans would take King Kennso back in a heartbeat as well, which makes it infinitely worse.
21st century football fans, who suddenly think they have a voice that matters because of social media, are becoming a dangerous breed, and an idiotic breed at that. And these idiots are being given a voice by the red top newspapers who can so easily sway the opinion of such fans to fit their agenda.
The fickleness of fans like this is seriously mind-bending and you can only hope that the people who actually matter at Liverpool can remain immune.
Can you imagine what will happen if Liverpool lose to Everton this week? It will be mass hysteria, with the lunatics slowly but surely gaining momentum as they attempt to take over the asylum.
I can just picture these morons if Liverpool beat Real Madrid in the Champions League in a few weeks. And for that I almost want it to happen.
Almost.
But not quite.
NB – Louis Van Gaal has got to go. That man hasn’t a notion. If Leicester can score five against you then you may just throw in the towel. Sacred Heart.
I must get onto Twitter…
