Pupils at a local primary school have enjoyed a great day out at the world-famous Armagh Planetarium and Observatory.
Kids at Mullabuoy Primary School in Lettershandoney won a competition run by the Derry News and County Derry Post.
Schools were asked to collect and send in tokens to be in with a chance of winning a trip to the planetarium.
The competition proved very popular and we had loads of entries.
However, there could only be one winner and Mullabuoy was the name chosen from the hat.
The winning P4/P5 class travelled to Armagh yesterday with their teacher Niall Brogan.
The children had a guided tour of the astropark, a scale model of the Solar System and the wider universe.
They also learnt all about the Solar System from the experts at the planetarium.
Over 1.65 million people – more than the population of Northern Ireland – have visited Armagh Planetarium.
It is the longest serving planetarium in the United Kingdom.
The Armagh Observatory is one of the UK and Ireland’s leading scientific research establishments while the Armagh Planetarium was the first planetarium in the world to show moving images by projecting video on the dome. This innovation has been shared with other planetaria around the world.
