Did you just blink and now the month of December is here? We are all busy either finishing off the end of year projects at work, shopping for presents or stressing over the in-laws coming for dinner. Typically we leave ourselves last on the list. Help is on its way, ladies! We are all so busy and never really know how to give time to ourselves or even where to start so I have done all the hard work for you.
I have created my very own Advent calendar - a beauty, hair or detox treatment each of the 12 days before Christmas. Trust me you will feel happier, prepared and ready for the festive season if you treat yourself for one hour every 12 days!!

First day of Christmas

We all tend to over indulge during the festive season. Get yourself a nice water bottle, slice some lemons and cucumber and pop them in the bottle. We should be drinking up to 8 glasses of water a day. You need to make this your new habit, I promise the benefits you will feel and see in the long run are so worth it!
Second day of Christmas
Our body needs time to rejuvenate and time to breathe. Start preparing your skin now. Exfoliate your skin weekly and especially if you know you are going to be applying self tan. Get rid of the old dead skin cells and make room for new fresh cells to grow.
Third day of Christmas
Make that hairdressing appointment. When booking the appointment explain to them that you are looking for a salon and stylist that you would like to commit to and want to find someone who will understand exactly what you are looking for.
Fourth Day of Christmas
Give your feet a little TLC by giving yourself a mini pedicure. Soak the feet in warm water, I recommend using a mint foot scrub, then buffing the feet to remove any dead hard skin. Follow with thick moisturiser and sleep in a pair of socks to increase the intensity of the treatment.
Fifth day of Christmas
Waxing gives you beautiful smooth skin, which we know is an essential accessory. When booking in for waxing, it is recommended to go at least 24 hours before any big events as waxing can cause temporary redness to the skin. Avoid using any perfumed lotions, hot showers, baths or any overly active exercise immediately before or after waxing as they may irritate the skin.
Sixth Day ofChristmas
If you commit to doing at least 30 minutes of exercise each day over Christmas, you will feel empowered heading into the New Year with a fresh mindset. Exercising will release endorphins into the blood stream which in then realise the chemical in the brain that makes us happy!

Seventh day of Christmas

Give yourself a facial at least once a week on the run up to Christmas. Take a good look at the products you are using and make sure they are the correct ones for your skin tone. The wrong products could be doing more damage than good.
Eight day of Christmas
Our bodies are crying out for some fresh fruit and vegetables over Christmas because we are indulging in luxury chocolate and mince pie. What better way to get our fruit and veg fix than juicing? Planning is the key, have all the ingredients you need at the ready and away you go.

Ninth Day of Christmas
In the average woman's beauty arsenal, there are at least 15/20 different make-up products that we have bought over the year and never used or just never had the excuse to test them out. Now is the time to try something new. If you have never done a red lip, now is the time to give it a go. Just practice until you feel confident enough to pull it off on your next night out.You never know when who will be standing under that mistletoe!

Tenth Day of Christmas
Brows are everything - they shape your face and help your eyes stand out. Why wouldn't we look after them? My suggestion is if you are trying to achieve the perfect shape don't try and do it yourself, book in somewhere that a friend or a work colleague goes to. I promise you once you start paying attention to your brows you will never go back.
Eleventh Day of Christmas
Now it's time to make sure you have those nails manicured to their finest. Doing your own manicure can be tricky at the best of times, but once you have prepped the nail your polish should look as smooth and fresh as if a professional has done it. File and shape your nails and apply polish slowly and carefully. Don't forget your top coat and cuticle oil.

Twelfth  Day of Christmas
On the 12th day of Christmas, commit to doing something for yourself at least once a week.
We often get caught up in the whole business of everything has to be done now and running around after others that we often forget about ourselves.
Going into the new year we often make goals for ourselves. If you don't have a skin regime every morning and night now is the time to make one, if you only treat yourself to getting your hair done once every six months change that to once a month.
Above all, enjoy this festive season and make the new you shine in the New Year!
