Details have been released about this year’s annual Garvagh Clydesdale and Vintage Vehicle Club show.

The popular event will return on Saturday, September 3, on its 20th anniversary, bringing the local community and visitors from far and wide to an extra special year at its annual traditional country fair.

The Garvagh Show invites one and all to come along to enjoy a fun filled day with entertainment and to travel back in time with many classic displays including stunning vintage vehicles, machinery and a presentation of vintage military vehicles to mark the centenary of the Battle of the Somme.

Chairman of the Garvagh Clydesdale and Vintage Vehicle Club and local vet, Nevin Smith said; “We are celebrating our 20th year, so it’s a special time for the club and the show will be extra special to help mark this milestone.

“The event has gone from strength to strength each year, last year was very successful and we are really enthusiastic to build on that this year and to bring the best event yet particularly as it is our anniversary.

“As always the Clydesdale show will take centre stage with numerous Clydesdales coming from all over Northern Ireland to participate in the competition, which will be judged by a visiting expert. The show field will also be filled with a superb vintage vehicle display including steam engines, classic cars and motorbikes, vintage tractors and kitties.

“We really do have many different types of spectacles to keep everyone amused, including an animal farm display with unusual animals and a birds of prey exhibition where children can get a photograph with the birds.

“The annual pet show will take place in the main arena and we welcome all types of pets and creatures. A special prize will be awarded to the most unusual entry.

“There will be entertainment throughout the day with music by John Knox, a line dancing show with Mandy's Country Kickers and the Poteen Makers will be performing in the main arena, back by popular demand. This really is a fantastic day for all the family and one which I look forward to immensely every year!”

The Garvagh Show takes place on Saturday 3rd September 2016 in the Orange field on the Coleraine Road at the north end of the village. Entry is £5 per person
